Redemption (Open)

Azazel crouched silently, hidden among the dusty rubble. The explosions and lazers shooting in the distance told her all she needed to know; the humans were at it again with their futile attempts in destroying the Skynet menace. Her programming was enough to allow Azazel to be aware of the ongoing battle, the fight for humanity. In a way, she herself was nearly human by the wide ranges of her programming. But no matter what, she'd always be just a cyborg, a scrap of metal, an inhuman being without a beating heart. A scowl etching across Azazel's features, she silently flipped out the deck of cards from her pocket; some of which were singed and blackened, not that she cared much.

Absentmindedly, she shuffled them, all while raising her head to gaze out at the deveastating sight before her; crumbling buildings, human skulls and skeletons littering the ground, a rat crawling here and there, the flashes of lights and fire signalling an attack from Skynet. Humans were practically almost extinct, her programming allowing her the feeling of slight pity for the long-lasting race, a race that seemed to never stop fighting for their freedom and well-being. Momentarilly, her eyes flickered a dark crimson color as she spotted one of Skynet's Terminators patrolling nearby, metallic gun raised as it scanned the area for life. Silently, Azazel ducked down, slipping the cards back into her pocket, and carefully backed off slowly into the shadows and rubble.

Watching through narrowed, crimson eyes, Azazel watched as the Terminator eventually retreated, seeming satsfied. Breathing a soft sigh of near-relief, she remained in her current position, crouched among the rubble and darkness.
